Sensex gains more than 180 pts points in noon trade

The sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 124 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 16,802 in early trade, today, on fresh buying by funds and retail investors, amid rising Asian bourses. Later, the Sensex extended its gains, and stood 186 points, or 1.1 per cent in the green, at 16,864 in afternoon deals, a shortwhile ago.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore were up by between 0.2 per cent and 1.3 per cent, today, on hopes of more economy boosting stimulus measures from the US central bank. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had spurted 1.2 per cent, overnight.
