The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange reclaimed lost ground, climbing 235 points, to 23,211 in afternoon trade, following the presentation of the Economic Survey. Similarly, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange had gained 69 points, to 7,040 a short while ago. Other key Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore had gained between 0.1 between percent and 1,5 percent. But at the forex market, the rupee gave up all its initial gains, and had depreciated 3 paise, to 68.75 against the dollar in late morning deals.
