The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange today gained 87 points to 19,467 in afternoon deals, on fresh buying,mainly in banking, capital goods, realty, auto and IT sector stocks, on the back of higher Asian cues. The 30-share index, gained 100 points in late morning deals. The Nifty, at the National Stock Exchange index also rose by 29 points, to 5,764.
