Rising for the ninth day, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained a modest 78 points, or 0.4 percent, to 18,542, today. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange advanced 32 points, or 0.6 percent, to 5,610. In other Asian markets, key stock indices in China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended mixed.
