Sensex gains 76 points in noon trade

Recovering from initial losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 76 points, or 0.4 percent, to 20,604 in afternoon trade a short while ago. But earlier, in morning trade, the Sensex had fallen 31 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 20,498 on profit-booking by investors. The Sensex had gained 633 points in the previous four trading sessions.Stock markets in South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan had dropped between 0.2 percent and 0.9 percent, today. But the Chinese market had gained 0.3 percent.
