Continuing its rising streak for the third straight day, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 70 points to 20,863 in early trade today. The rise was attributed to sustained buying by funds, as the economy grew by a higher-than-expected 4.8 per cent in the September quarter, amid a mixed trend at other Asian bourses. The 30-share barometer had gained nearly 372 points in the previous two sessions.The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange moved up by 25 points to 6,201.Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 0.23 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei shed 0.12 per cent in early trade today.
