Recovering from early losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 56 points, or 0.3 percent, to close at 17,441, on buying in select blue-chips, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 20 points, or 0.4 percent, to 5,274.But stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore lost between 0.1 percent and 0.8 percent.
