The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 51 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 18,875 in early trade, today, on sustained buying by funds and retail investors, on expectations of more policy reforms by the government. Later, the Sensex trimmed much of its initial gains, to stand just 7 points in the green, at 18,831 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The Sensex had climbed nearly 245 points in the previous two trading sessions. Key stocks indices in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Indonesia were down by between 0.1 percent and 0.5 percent, today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.2 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
