Sensex gains 390 points to close at 26,637

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended with a massive gain of 390 points at 26,637, today, on broad-based buying by investors. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange spurted 118 points, to 7,961.Stocks rose across the globe, with the markets in China, Hong Kong and Singapore gaining between 0.3 percent and 1.2 percent. Key European bourses in the UK, Germany and France also posted good gains. At the forex market, rising for the fourth straight session, the rupee appreciated 35 paise, to an over one-week high of 61.05 against the dollar. But gold remained steady, at Rs 27,400 per ten grams in Delhi. Silver also ended unchanged, at Rs 39,000 per kilo. And rebounding from a 27-month low, Brent crude oil futures climbed towards USD 92 a barrel, while U.S. oil climbed 45 cents, to USD 87.76 a barrel.
