Lifted by rising global markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange spurted 360 points, or 2.2 percent, to 16,483, Thursday. At the day's high the Sensex had gained as much as 595 points. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange surged 105 points, or 2.2 percent, to 4,937.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore rallied between 2 percent and 5.5 percent. Stocks rose as the world's six major central banks moved to tame a liquidity crunch for European banks by providing cheaper dollar funding.

Sensex gains 360 points in closing trade
