The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained a marginal 21 points, or 0.1 percent, to close at 18,694, after volatile trade, on Tuesday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 4 points, to 5,674.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended largely subdued.
