Sensex gains 201 points

Advancing for the fifth straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped 201 points, or 1.1 percent, to a two-month high of 18,694, today, in line with rising global markets. The Sensex had already rallied more than 940 points in the past four trading sessions. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange added 55 points, or 1 percent, to 5,600.Stock markets in Japan, South Korea, and Singapore gained between 1 percent and 1.5 percent, on hopes that the Greek parliament will approve austerity measures demanded by international lenders.
