Sensex gains 192 points in afternoon trade

The domestic stock market rose further in afternoon trade, with the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gaining 192 points, or 1 percent, to cross the 19,000-mark, at 19,139 a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, the Sensex had opened with a gain of 52 points, or 0.3 per cent, at 18,999, on sustained buying by funds, amid a firm Asian trend. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan had climbed between 0.4 percent and 2.5 percent, today. Wall Street's Dow Jones Industrial Averag had ended flat, yesterday.
