After a weak opening, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange staged a smart recovery, on emergence of strong buying interest, to stand a good 190 points, or 1 percent in the green, at 19,373, in afternoon trade, a short while ago. However, earlier in the morning, the Sensex had opened 91 points in the red, at 19,092, on sustained selling by investors, especially in interest rate sensitive stocks.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, and South Korea were trading mixed, today. Over in the US, Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained 0.2 per cent, overnight.

Sensex gains 190 points in afternoon trade
