The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 154 points, or 0.9 percent, to 16,939, in line with rising global markets on Monday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 48 points, or 1 percent, to 5,098.Stock markets in Japan , China , Hong Kong , Singapore , and South Korea gained between 1.8 percent and 4 percent, on hopes of progress on a plan to resolve the euro zone's debt crisis.
