The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed with a good gain of 154 points, or 0.8 per cent, at 19,581, on the first day of 2013, on across-the-board buying by investors, after the US averted the looming fiscal cliff. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange gained 46 points, or 0.8 percent, to 5,951.
