Sensex gains 143 points in early trade

The BSE benchmark Sensex rose nearly 143 points in early trade today with Reliance Industries leading the rally as it posted better-than-expected second quarter earnings. Besides, a firming trend in the global markets also buoyed the trading sentiment here. The 30-share index, which had gained over 712 points in the previous five sessions, rose further by nearly 143 points, or 0.69 per cent, to over 20,750, with stocks of oil and gas, realty, IT, auto and banking sectors leading the rise in early trade.On similar lines, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by nearly 37 points, or 0.60 per cent, to over 6,149.
