The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange opened 181 points, or 1.1 per cent higher, to trade above the 17,000-mark, at 17,057, on Friday morning, on sustained buying by investors, amid rising regional markets. After the Reserve Bank's credit policy announcement, the Sensex trimmed its gains somewhat, but still stood a good 142 points, or 0.8 percent in positive territory, at 17,018 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex has gained more than 400 points in the past two trading sessions. Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were up by between 0.2 percent and 3.5 percent, today, after news of global central banks' plan to boost dollar liquidity in Europe helped alleviate investor concerns. Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained 1.7 per cent, overnight.
