Sensex gains 124 points in afternoon trade

Recovering from early losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 124 points, or 0.7 per cent in positive territory, at 18,988 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, however, the Sensex had opened with a loss of 33 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 18,831, on profit-booking by investors, amid a mixed trend in the other Asian bourses. The Sensex had gained 183 points in the last three trading sessions.Stock markets in Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Taiwan were trading mixed, today.
