Snapping its two-day losing streak, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 118 points in early trade today on fresh buying by funds amid a firming trend on other Asian bourses. The 30-share barometer, which had lost over 192 points inthe previous two sessions, rose 118 points to 20,533 points with consumer durable, banking,realty and FMCG sector stocks leading the rise. The National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 42 points to 6,088. Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 0.72 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei was up by 0.08 per cent in early trade today.
