Sensex gains 103 points in afternoon trade

Recovering from early weakness, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange stood 103 points, or 0.6 percent in the green, at 18,964, in afternoon trade, today, as investors bought beaten down stocks. Earlier, in the morning, the Sensex had opened 81 points lower, at 18,779, on continued selling by funds.Meanwhile, the Chinese market led losses in other key regional bourses, today, after China's central bank raised its reserve requirements by another 0.5 percentage point, on Friday. So the key benchmark indices in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were down by between 0.1 percent, and 3 percent, today.
