The BSE benchmark Sensex which rose by 53 points in early trade today trimmed its initial gain in noon trade and was up 10 points at 17, 403 a short while ago. The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty which moved up by 16 was trading up 4 points at 5,304. In the Asian region, the Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose by 0.17 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei index shed 0.91 per cent in morning trade today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.63 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
