Sensex fells third day in row; Rupee down at 55.43/dollar

Amid a weak trend in Asian region and disappointing industrial production data for June, the BSE Sensex fell for the third day in a row and lost over 33 points in early trade today. The 30-share barometer, which has lost nearly 41 points in the last two sessions, declined by over 33 points, to nearly 17,528. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty declined by 6 points, to 5,317. The rupee lost 16 paise to 55.43 against the US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on strengthening of the American currency overseas. The rupee had strengthened by 15 paise to close at 55.27 against the US dollar yesterday on sustained capital inflows.
