Snapping a three-day rally, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange dropped 60 points, or 0.4 percent, to close below the 17,000 level, at 16,973, amid a sliding rupee, and in line with falling global markets, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange fell 19 points, or 0.4 percent, to 5,146. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Singapore dropped between 0.1 percent and 2.2 percent, amid signs of a deepening global economic slowdown.
