Sensex falls 135 points in afternoon trade

Surrendering all its initial gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell more than 135 points in intra-day trade, today, on profit-booking by investors, before recovering some lost ground, to stand 26 points, or 0.1 percent in negative territory, at 19,660, a short while ago. In the morning, however, the Sensex had opened as much as 107 points higher, at 19,793. Elsewhere, the bourses in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan were up by between 0.3 percent and 1.5 percent.
