The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended with a marginal gain of 11 points, or 0.1 percent, to 15,868, after very volatile trade, today. The Sensex had lost 192 points at the day's low, and added 144 points at the day's high. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 4 points, or 0.1 percent at 4,754. In the broader market, the BSE Mid cap index slipped 0.1 percent, but the Small cap index rose marginally. Market breadth was positive on the BSE. Turnover on the BSE's cash segment amounted to 1,961 crore rupees. Reliance Industries rose 2.7%. Among Reliance ADAG shares, Reliance Communications, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Capital, Reliance MediaWorks and Reliance Power surged between 3.5% and 7.3%. FMCG majors, ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Marico rose between 1% and 1.3%.Shares of organised retailers jumped on reports that the government may soon issue the notification allowing 100% FDI in single brand retail. So Pantaloon, Shoppers Stop, Provogue, V2 Retail, Brandhouse and Koutons zoomed between 5% and 12%.In metals counters, Tata Steel, Hindustan Zinc, SAIL, Nalco, Sesa Goa, Sterlite and Hindalco rose between 0.3% and 2.3%.Among Capital goods stocks, Thermax, Punj Lloyd, BHEL, Crompton Greaves, ABB, Alstom Projects, Suzlon Energy, and Usha Martin declined between 0.1% and 3.7%.In auto counters, Maruti Suzuki India rose 1.8%. Mahindra & Mahindra gained 1%, Tata Motors 0.8%. But Ashok Leyland declined 2.3%.Among two-wheeler makers, Bajaj Auto shed 0.4%, Hero Moto Corp declined 5%, and TVS Motor Company fell 2%.
