The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed with a modest loss of 34 points, or 0.2 percent, at 17,065, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange fell 7 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,133. But stock markets in Japan, China, South Korea and Singapore gained between 0.2 percent and 2.7 percent.
