Sensex ends up by 200 points

Recovering from its 15-month low levels, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 200 points, or 1.2 percent to close at 16,342, amid positive cues from European markets on Monday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 53 points, or 1.1 percent, to 4,899. In Asia, Key indices in Japan, China, Singapore and South Korea lost between 0.1 percent and 2 percent. In Europe, key indices, London's FTSE-100, France's CAC and Germany's DAX gained 0.7% and 1.9% in intra-day trade.
