The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 37 points, or 0.2 percent higher, at 16,844, amid firm global markets, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange added 17 points, or 0.3 percent, to 5,002. Stock markets in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea rose between 0.5 percent and 1 percent.
