The Indian stock markets today ended flat. The benchmark index at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 17,755 gaining just 6.25 points.Backed by negative global cues the markets opened on a lower note but managed to recover towards the end.Buying was seen in the shares of telecom, healthcare, realty, FMCG, cement and private finance companies, while selling was seen in the shares of metal and power companies. Maruti Suzuki, HUL and DLF were the positive contributors while Reliance, Larsen and Toubro, Jindal Steel and NTPC were the negative contributors.The National Stock Exchange, Nifty closed at 5323 with a marginal gain of 6.60 points. The Midcap and the Smallcap indices closed in the green. The Midcap index closed at 7123 with a gain of 59.50 points. The Smallcap index closed at 9022 with a gain of 62.64 points.
