Sensex ends down by 148 points<br/>

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange dropped 148 points, or 0.9 percent, to again close below the 17,000 mark, at 16,937, as a rise in food inflation sparked fears of interest rate hikes, and as global stock markets fell on Thursday.The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange declined 47 points, or 0.9 percent, to 5,092.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea lost between 1 percent and 2.7 percent.
