Sensex drops nearly 100 points in noon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 95 points, or 0.6 per cent, to 16,554 in opening trade, today, as funds and retail investors booked profits after recent strong gains, amid falling Asian bourses.Afterwards, the Sensex remained weak, and stood 92 points, or 0.6 per cent in the negative zone, at 16,557 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex had gained over 680 points in the past four trading sessions.Key stock indices in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore had lost between 0.1 percent and 2 percent, today, after US central bank chairman Ben Bernanke dented further monetary easing hopes.
