Sensex drops 72 points in afternoon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 65 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 19,575 in opening trade, this morning, on sustained selling by funds, amid negative Asian bourses. Later, the Sensex remained weak, and stood 72 points, or 0.4 per cent in the red, at 19,568, in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The Sensex has lost over 365 points in the past five trading sessions.Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea had declined between 0.1 percent and 1.3 percent, today, after mixed cues from Wall Street, and ahead of the European Central Bank's decision on interest rates. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.1 per cent higher in yesterday's trade
