Sensex down by 41 pts in opening trade

The BSE benchmark Sensex which lost 9 points in yesterday's see-saw session, moved down further by 41 points, or 0.23 per cent, to 17,509 in opening trade today. Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index shed 16 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 5,262. In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was trading 0.78 per cent lower and Japan's Nikkei shed 0.74 per cent this morning. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.66 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
