Sensex down by 208 pts in opening trade

The Bombay Stocks Exchange benchmark Sensex lost 208 points in opening trade a today. It was trading at 15,288 down by over 202 points in the opening trade. Brokers said the Sensex fell due to concerns over slowing industrial growth amid a weakening trend on other Asian bourses and persisting worries about the European debt crisis. In the Asia region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was down by 2.52 per cent and Japan's Nikkei index lost 1.47 per cent in morning trade today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.02 per cent lower in the previous session on Friday.
