Sensex down 7 pts in noon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 16 points, or 0.1 percent, to 19,468 in opening trade, this morning, on sustained selling by funds, in the absence of any cues from the regional markets. Later, the Sensex turned volatile, and after swinging between gains and losses, stood 7 points in negative territory, at 19,478 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex had lost over 520 points in the previous seven trading sessions. Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia were all closed for a holiday.
