The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange lost 83 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 15,774 in early trade, today, on continued selling by funds, ahead of quarterly corporate results, and amid weakness in the other Asian markets.Afterwards, the Sensex lost more ground, and stood 155 points, or 1 percent in the negative zone, at 15,702, in afternoon deals.And key stock indices in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan were down by between 0.2 per cent and 1.7 per cent, today, as higher borrowing costs in a French bond auction stoked fresh concerns about Europe's debt crisis. Across in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended flat, overnight.
