Sensex down 126 pts to close at 19,229

Falling for the fifth straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 126 points, or 0.7 per cent, to close at 19,229, on sustained selling by investors, amid weak European markets, today. The Sensex had lost 159 points at the day's low, and gained 66 points at the day's high.The Sensex had lost more than 130 points in the previous four trading sessions. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange fell 37 points, or 0.6 percent, to 5,852. In the broader market, the BSE Midcap index lost 1.2 percent and the Smallcap index shed 1 percent.
