The BSE benchmark Sensex dropped over 122 points in early trade today to 16,045.The NSE's 50-share Nifty index was also down by 33 points, or 0.70 per cent, at 4,817.In the Asian region, the key benchmark indices in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan were up between 0.55 per cent and 1.59 per cent, while Singapore's Straits Times Index was down 0.2 per cent.
