Sensex dips 30 points in afternoon trade

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 61 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 18,481 in early trade, today, as funds and retail investors booked profits after recent strong gains, amid weak regional markets. Later, the Sensex briefly moved into positive territory, before again losing ground, to stand a modest 30 points, or 0.2 percent in the red, at 18,513 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. The Sensex had gained over 1,230 points in the previous nine trading sessions.Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan were down by between 0.1 percent and 0.8 percent, today. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.3 per cent lower in yesterday's trade. MM
