Sensex dips 101 points in early trade

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today dipped below 17,000 points level losing over 101 points to 16,907 in opening trade. The Sensex was trading at 16,945 down by 63 points when reports last came in. Analysts say the fall is due to on selling by foreign funds amid weak global trends. Heavy selling by domestic mutual funds also impacted the sentiment.Simialrily, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty fellby 20 points to 5,043.The Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 1.20 per cent, whileJapan's Nikkei shed 1.57 per cent in the morning trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.92 per cent down on Wednesday.
