The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped 288 points, to a nearly 32-month high of 19,087, in opening trade, today, amid firm global cues. Gaining further ground, the Sensex stood a hefty 338 points, or 1.8 percent in the green, at 19,138, a short while ago. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rallied 102 points, or 1.8 percent, to 5,742.Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore were up by between 0.8 percent and 2.5 percent. The global markets rose on encouraging economic data from China and the United States, and after a deal on global bank rules gave lenders some respite before having to raise hundreds of billions of dollars in fresh capital.
