The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex closed the session today with modest gains led by buying in interest telecom, capital goods, metal and power stocks, and Heavyweight ICICI Bank. Positive European markets also provided some support to the benchmark indices. BSE Sensex rebounded in the second half of the trade and closed at 17189.31, up by 64.09 points. The National Stock Exchange Nifty rose 22.65 points to settle at 5134.65. Nifty touched an intraday high of 5146.45 and low of 5084.65 while Sensex hit a low of 17032.30 in today's session. Selling was seen in technology, FMCG, auto and pharma stocks. BSE Midcap Index was up by 18.26 points at 6614.04 while BSE Small cap Index settled at 8027.45 up by 70.87 points.
