The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed with a modest gain of 54 points, or 0.3 per cent, at 17,196, after choppy trade, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange added 21 points, or 0.4 percent, to 5,157. Other Asian bourses in Japan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea and Singapore ended mixed.
