Recovering from initial losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended with a gain of 116 points, or 0.4 percent, at a two-week high of 27,207, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 25 points, to 8,146. But stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore declined between 0.3 percent and 1.7 percent.The rupee dropped one paise, to 60.82 against the dollar. Gold declined 120 rupees, to 26,850 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver dropped 375 rupees, to 39,250 rupees per kilo. And Brent crude oil futures slipped below 98 dollars a barrel, while US crude fell 50 cents, to 91.91 dollars a barrel.
