After surging 312 points during the session, due to a thaw in relations between the Ambani brothers, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surrendered most of those gains, to close with a small gain of just 24 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 16,470, on fag-end profit-booking, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 13 points, or 0.3 percent, to 4,944. Other Asian bourses in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea rose between 0.3 percent and 3.5 percent.

Sensex closes up by 24 pts to 16,470
