Snapping two sessions of losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed with a modest gain of 47 points at 18,226 on Thursday on a further dip in food inflation, and positive European markets. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 16 points, or 0.3 percent, at 5,478.
