Gaining for the second straight day, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed a modest 49 points higher, at 16,286, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 14 points, to 4,870. Stock markets in Japan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea ended mixed.
