Sensex closes 308 points higher

The auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya brought a lot of cheer for the Indian markets. After recording huge losses for nine consecutive days, all indices today witnessed buying and ended in the green. The benchmark index at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 308.23 points to close at 18,518.81. Falling crude prices across the globe indicating some decline in the inflation rate also helped the markets.The National Stock Exchange too ended in the green. The Nifty closed at 5551.45, recording a gain of 91.60 points. .Although the regular trading is over, an extended Live Trading session in Gold Exchange Traded Funds will be on till 9 PM today at the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange. The BSE has also decided to waive transaction fees done in Gold ETFs today. The prices of Gold also witnessed a downfall leading to more investor interest.
