Sensex closes 296 pts down at 19,091

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 296 points, or 1.5 percent, to close at a 3-week low of 19,091, on Monday, on continued selling in IT stocks, amid concerns about inflation, high crude oil prices, and weak global bourses. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange dropped 95 points, or 1.6 percent, to 5,729.Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore lost between 0.1 percent and 0.7 percent.
